"MAI-SHO-GAKU, Strokes of Fire

SYNOPSIS:
The mythical, calligraphic art and other distinctive aspects of Japan combine to create a space full of abstraction and visual richness in which the cosmic struggle that is liberated in its creative process takes place.
It deals with a young MIKO, at the service of Buddhism and the care of temple. who, through her Shodo (the art of writing ideograms) confronts the elemental forces of the universe, the Gods of Japanese mythology and weaknesses of human nature that persecute his liberation and transcendence.
DESCRIPTION:
MAI-SHO-GAKU is a multidisciplinary show where two dance styles from Japan, KABUKI BUYO and BUTOH converge, in which immersed in the percussive roar of the TAIKO drum and the ethnic music that adorns it, allow the viewer to appreciate the elegant stroke of the calligraphy or SHODO. Accompanied with live music, fantastic characters will dance alluding to the elementals of water and fire. While the young MIKO "SHODOKA" will draw KANJIS (Japanese ideograms), to create poems that will be printed between huge canvases as well as the body of the characters themselves.
The creation of this show, they bring together the technique of the Kabuki theater, was created more than 400 years ago and recognized today as the cultural heritage of humanity; and the Butoh dance, which emerged in the postwar period and in response to the terrible effects of the fall of the Atomic bomb in the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. This last dance movement is considered one of the most influential expressions of Japanese contemporary art at an international level.
Within the writing in Chinese ink "Sho" or "Shodo" will have to lay the guiding thread of this scenic creation.
